REQUIREMENTS AND FAQ’S

What do we look for in a Thunder Girl?

  • Technical, talented dancer and performer
  • Ambassador for the Thunder organization
  • Positive, energetic and great personality
  • Physically fit
  • Professional
  • Team player
  • Must be 18 years old by October 1, 2012. No exceptions.

What is the commitment requirement for a Thunder Girl?

  • Team bonding/dance camp
  • Attend and perform at Thunder home games
  • Attend rehearsals: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled for games, appearances, dance clinics and special events.
  • Public appearances (charity and paid)
  • Media interviews
  • Photo shoots/calendar shoots
  • Dance clinics

What is the Thunder Girls audition process?

  • Thursday, July 26th: Final day to pre-register for auditions. You must submit the online application with resume and optional headshot. Your $20 application fee will be due at the door on the first day of auditions. *Please note: walk-ups day of auditions will be accepted with the increased registration fee of $30. Please arrive early enough to submit your application online. We will provide computer work stations.
  • Saturday, July 28th: Preliminary Auditions. There will be three cuts made during this day. You will learn across the floor combinations: a pom combination, a hip hop combination, and a jazz dance combination that will each be performed in front of a panel of judges. At the end of this audition, a group of finalists will be selected to continue to the finals.
  • Finalist mandatory dates: Finalists selected on July 28th must be available from July 30-August 2 to attend the interview, rehearsal and final auditions.

What should I wear to auditions?

  • Two piece attire (half top with briefs or boy cut shorts)
  • Skin colored nylons or tights
  • Non-marking shoes (Jazz shoes, dance sneakers, athletic shoes)
  • Hair must be worn down; Full hair and makeup
  • Stud earrings. No other jewelry allowed except for engagement/wedding rings.

What should I bring to prelims?

  • $20 registration fee; $30 registration fee (if you have not pre-registered) - checks and cash ONLY. Please make checks payable to the Professional Basketball Club, LLC.
  • Water and food. (Water will be provided. Lunch and snacks must be provided on your own.)
  • Hair and makeup supplies
  • Towel

What should I do to prepare for auditions?

  • Thunder Girls prep classes are NOT mandatory, but are highly recommended as an excellent way to touch up on your dance skills and learn what it takes to be a Thunder Girl!
  • Each 1 ½ hour prep class session includes:
    • Warm-up
    • Across the floor technique
    • Thunder Girls style choreography
    • Auditions tips
    • Q&A with Thunder Girls Manager, Paige Carter
    • Q&A with Thunder Girls Fitness Trainer, Steve Clausen
