To Collison, every foot of space on the basketball floor is important. Gaining advantages by being in proper position, spacing the floor correctly and playing with great energy are all ways in which the Thunder can succeed on the margins by focusing on the details of the game. Collison is a master of those details, and uses his veteran leadership and experience to help younger players continue to learn the nuances of the game. In his role with the second unit, Collison leads by example while playing with intensity and focus on the defensive end. His offensive game has expanded some this season as he has worked with Kevin Martin in their two-man game. He gets teammates scoring opportunities by setting solid screens and making timely passes and averaged a career-high in assists this season. Collison’s toughness and versatility also provides Brooks with another option towards the end of halves based on matchups.
- FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME:
"Anchorman." There's a ton of really funny characters.
- FAVORITE MOVIE YOU'VE SEEN RECENTLY:
- FAVORITE SONG OF ALL TIME:
- LAST SONG PLAYED ON YOUR IPOD:
Could be Neil Diamond or could be some rap; there's more hip-hop on there than anything else. There's a lot of classic rock, though.
- MOST MEMORABLE COMMUNITY EVENT WITH THE THUNDER:
It's been two or three years, but my day at Special Care. The importance of what that organization does for families; without that organization, people would really have a difficult time being able to go to work and also take care of their kids with special needs. They provide so much help to those families. The kids need extra attention; they need time, they need professionals to deal with some of the special needs they have. I was really impressed with the staff there and what they were able to do. I just kept thinking, "What if the organization wasn't there?"
- FAVORITE PRO SPORTS TEAM OUTSIDE OF THE NBA:
I don't really have one, nothing notable.
- FAVORITE THING ABOUT OKC, and WHY:
Great fans. People say it all the time, but it's really true. The consistency of our fan base, being there every night.
- FAVORITE TV SHOW, NOW AND PAST:
"Breaking Bad" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm."
- FAVORITE CARTOON WHEN YOU WERE A KID:
- FAVORITE ATHLETE WHEN YOU WERE A KID:
I liked Will Clark for some reason; he played first base for the Giants.
- ONE PERSON YOU WOULD LIKE TO MEET:
I think your identity is who you are every day. Just because we were one thing in the past doesn't mean we're going to be it today. We have to go out and do it today. That's been a really good formula for us, to do the work every day, and it hasn't changed.
