Orton’s size, athleticism and physicality are attributes that have impressed the Thunder coaching staff. The local Oklahoma City standout from Bishop McGuinness High School has been working with Thunder assistant coach Mark Bryant, who specializes in mentoring the big men, on a regular basis in a variety of aspects of the game. From maintaining conditioning to developing low post moves to working on proper defensive positioning, Orton has had the opportunity to improve his game on all levels both with the Thunder and the Tulsa 66ers. Throughout the season, Orton looked to Kendrick Perkins, Nick Collison and Serge Ibaka as examples of players who have both great work ethic but also diverse skill sets and specialties on the floor.

It's a true blessing to come into this situation. To come into an organization like this, there's just no other. Talking to other players, just chatting it up with them, you understand how special this place is as far as the way they handle things, the way that they approach pretty much everything. It's the care that they take, the time they put into everything they do.
