Rick Brunson has carved out an NBA career one year at a time. Despite going undrafted and never having a contract of longer than one year, Brunson has spent eight seasons in the NBA. Part of an incredible Temple backcourt with fellow future NBA players Eddie Jones and Aaron McKie, Brunson has become the ultimate role player, happy to accept his role as a reserve and steadying force in the locker room. At the age of 33, Brunson enjoyed a career year for the Clippers in 2004-05. Because of injuries, he started 39 games - after starting just 12 in his first seven NBA seasons - and averaged career highs of 5.5 points and 5.1 assists per game, ranking in the NBA's top ten in assists per 48 minutes (10.1, fourth) and assist-to-turnover ratio (3.28, ninth). When he signed with the Sonics in August 2005, they became his seventh NBA team, not counting two stints apiece in Chicago, New York and Portland.
