Basketball has carried Mouhamed Sene a great distance in a very short time. Because of his size, Sene was drawn to the game at age 16, and proved a quick study. Learning at SEED (Sports for Education and Economic Development) in his native Senegal, Sene developed quickly. He also learned from NBA players and coaches at a Basketball Without Borders camp. At age 18, Sene went to play professionally in Belgium, and he emerged as a top NBA prospect after posting 15 points on 6-for-8 shooting, six rebounds and nine blocks in 27 minutes in the Nike Hoop Summit game. Selected by the Sonics with the 10th pick of the 2006 NBA Draft, Sene's 7-8 ½ wingspan gives him immense shot-blocking potential, which he flashed at times in limited minutes as a rookie.
