Williams teamed with Sonics forward Damien Wilkins at Georgia, where he was a strong scorer. Williams averaged better than 16 points per game as both a junior and a senior and was named Second Team All-SEC both seasons. Williams is physical for a guard, and he's also a fine outside shooter who canned 41.4% of his 3s as a senior and ranks second in Georgia history in 3s made and attempted. Williams played 11 games in 2003-04 with the NBDL's Columbus Riverdragons, averaging 11.4 points, before a foot injury ended his season. Williams spent 2004-05 with the Great Lakes Storm of the CBA, averaging a team-leading 20.9 points per game (second in the CBA) to go along with 5.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals. Williams played for the Sonics summer-league squad in 2005, earning him an invitation to training camp.
