After helping the University of Maryland to the 2002 NCAA Championship as a sophomore, Chris Wilcox declared early for the NBA Draft and was taken with the eighth pick by the Los Angeles Clippers. In three-plus seasons with the Clippers, Wilcox showed flashes of brilliance and shot better than 50% from the field, but his path to heavy playing time was blocked by All-Star Elton Brand. Acquired by the Sonics in a Feb. 14, 2006 deal for Vladimir Radmanovic, Wilcox quickly established himself as a starter and began playing his best basketball, including the first 20-20 game by a Sonics player in more than a decade on Apr. 4, 2006 against Houston. Wilcox is an athletic player who loves to play above the rim and is a solid rebounder and shot blocker at the power forward position. Wilcox re-signed with the Sonics as a restricted free agent during August 2006.
