In Seattle, Antonio Daniels has made good on the promise that enticed the then-Vancouver Grizzlies to select him with the fourth pick of the 1997 Draft. Thrown immediately into the fire with the Grizzlies, Daniels struggled and was traded after one season to San Antonio. On the veteran Spurs, who won the NBA title during his first year in San Antonio, Daniels had the time to grow and develop his game. After one long season in Portland, Daniels signed as a free agent with the Sonics and quickly found his niche as the Sonics heady backup point guard, leading the NBA in assist-turnover ratio (4.89) and shooting 47.0% from the field. Quality backup point guards are notoriously difficult to find and, in Daniels, the Sonics have arguably the best.
