Scales has played professionally all over the globe since finishing his career at Oregon, but is still looking to catch on in the NBA after attending training camps with the Houston Rockets and New Jersey Nets in 2003 and 2004. Scales has played in Italy, Korea and China, where he helped replace Yao Ming on the Shanghai Sharks. Also on Scales' resume is a stint playing for new Sonics assistant Ralph Lewis in the NBDL. Scales led the 2005 Sonics summer-league squad with 12.6 points per game, shooting 50% from the field. He then shined for the U.S. qualifying team, averaging 10.3 points per game. Scales is an outstanding shooter, but at 6-2, he has to demonstrate the ability to play the point to stick in the NBA.
