In a battle between two international basketball powers this afternoon that pits NBA teammates against one another, Oklahoma City will be represented strongly.

For the very first time, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden will play against their Thunder teammate Serge Ibaka outside of a practice setting… but it likely won’t be the last time. With a combined record of 11-0 in exhibition play this July, it seems likely these two squads will meet up in the medal rounds of the Olympics in August.

OKLAHOMA CITY, July 19, 2012 – Oklahoma City Thunder center Kendrick Perkins underwent a successful procedure to repair a ligament tear in his left wrist, the team announced today.

Perkins suffered the injury during the 2012 Western Conference Finals. Following a scheduled postseason evaluation, it was determined a procedure was necessary. The nine-year NBA veteran is expected to be ready for the 2012-13 season.

A booming but joyous bellow sounded through the high ceilings at the Thunder Events Center this week. Seconds later, a grinning Hasheem Thabeet walked in to get fitted into his new Thunder gear.

The 7-foot-3 Tanzanian center who joined the Thunder via free agency laughed, joked and asked questions throughout his introductory photo shoot, showing off the personable side of the former UConn Huskies standout who is entering his fourth season in the NBA.
