OKLAHOMA CITY, August 4, 2012 – The Oklahoma City Thunder signed forward Daniel Orton to a contract, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Orton (6-10, 255 pounds) appeared in 16 games (two starts) during the 2011-12 season as a member of the Orlando Magic and recorded averages of 2.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in 11.7 minutes per contest.

Both Team USA and the Spanish national team had cruised to perfect records in the first three games of the Olympics, but on Saturday, both teams were tested to their limits.

Team USA fended off a pesky Lithuania side by the score of 99-94, needing a 17-6 run late in the fourth quarter in order to overcome a Lithuania lead. Spain burst out to a 22-5 advantage against Russia, but saw their lead dwindle away, ultimately falling to the Russians 77-74.

OKLAHOMA CITY, August 3, 2012 – The Oklahoma City Thunder will play a pair of home games at Chesapeake Energy Arena in addition to hosting contests in both Tulsa, OK, and Wichita, KS, as part of a seven-game preseason schedule leading up to the 2012-13 NBA regular season, the team announced today.

Oklahoma City opens the preseason with a two-game road trip beginning in Hidalgo, TX, versus the Houston Rockets at the State Farm Arena on Oct. 10 followed by a trip to Salt Lake City to take on the Utah Jazz on Oct. 12.

With group play nearly halfway finished, the Olympic basketball teams are now jockeying for position in the knockout rounds.

Today Spain and Thunder forward Serge Ibaka squared off against the host country Great Britain, where the Spaniards narrowly escaped with a 79-78 victory. Team USA took care of Nigeria with a record-setting 156-73 victory this afternoon.

Up next, Spain will take on Russia and Team USA will play against Lithuania on Saturday.

Team USA vs. Nigeria

Immediately after Team USA’s victory over France, Thunder forward Serge Ibaka and the Spanish national team took to the court in its preliminary Olympic contest.

Spain battled China throughout a back-and-forth opening quarter, leading 19-17 after the first period. Ibaka, who scored 17 points on the day, played a big role in Spain’s 34-point second quarter when it outscored the Chinese by 10. Ibaka was a physical presence in the paint during his 20 minutes of action, pulling down five rebounds and swatting three shots.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Friday, July 27, 2012 – Seventy of the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 82 regular-season games will be carried live and in high definition on the team’s exclusive regional and local TV partner, FOX Sports Oklahoma, the Thunder announced today. The other 12 games will be exclusive national broadcasts on ABC or TNT. The Thunder’s 10 games on ESPN, as well as three on TNT will also be carried on Fox Sports Oklahoma. Brian Davis (play-by-play announcer) and Grant Long (analyst) return for their fifth season as Thunder broadcasters.
