When Hasheem Thabeet gives out high fives to elementary school students, you can probably guess that they’re not really “high” fives for both parties involved.

The 7-3 Thunder center, along with guard Reggie Jackson, boarded the Rolling Thunder Book Bus on Monday to help hand out books to students at Russell Dougherty Elementary in Edmond.

As Thunder Head Coach Scott Brooks said on Sunday night, his team has never shied away from putting in work.

On Monday morning after the Thunder dropped one at home to the Atlanta Hawks, Brooks and his squad went right back to work with a focused film session and a practice afterwards. Forward and team leader Kevin Durant said that film study focused on areas that the Thunder needs to address like defensive intensity and ball security, and his head coach said it was a productive session.

The Thunder’s momentum was cresting, rising steadily after a Kevin Durant three pointer, when the Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard drove to the basket. Hasheem Thabeet took big steps to rotate over, and packed Lillard’s dunk attempt back to Earth, turning the volume in Chesapeake Energy Arena up another couple of notches.
