An Earful of Thunder

GREG ROLAND

Although Greg Roland has attended about 40 Thunder home games, he’ll always have a special place in his heart for Game 3 of the first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers.

“The whole environment was unreal,” he said, recalling the Thunder’s come-from-behind win over L.A.

“I went with my best friend to start off his bachelor-party weekend and there were several times that we looked at each other as if to say, ‘This is really happening.’ At the risk of sounding ridiculous, it was chills-worthy.”

Indeed, the 25-year-old Mustang, Okla. native said he can never get enough of the atmosphere in the Ford Center for Thunder games.

“My favorite thing really is the crowd participation,” Greg said. “It’s like the fans are really appreciating the history being made.”

Why such overwhelming excitement from Thunder fans? Greg has a theory.

“The reason I'm such a fan is because of my love for the game and being able to watch these guys share the same love,” he said, “to see them out there really enjoying themselves and understanding the potential that the team has. It's fun to watch your favorite team, but it’s even more fun watching your favorite team having fun.”

As for Greg, he’s committed to spreading the word about his enthusiasm for all things Thunder.

“I host Thunder parties at my house for games, and I am constantly trying to recruit new potential Thunder fans,” he said. “Anyone who will listen is going to get an earful of Thunder.”
