A Head for Basketball

CHRIS "JERRY THE HECKLER" MORRIS

Some people might look at a basketball and see, well, just a basketball.

Leave it to the soul of a fan to look at a basketball and see … a head.

For Chris Morris, a basketball for a helmet meant the creation of a rabid Thunder fan dubbed “Jerry the Heckler.”

“I have used tube after tube of paint to cover my torso in blue, white, yellow and orange over the past season,” said the 21-year-old from Duncan, Okla. “I run stairs the whole game to heckle everyone on the opposing team.”

It’s an experience Chris clearly loves, having attended more than two dozen games, by his estimation.

“Going to the games and being in the Ford Center is something that everyone should experience in their life,” he said. “So many people in one place yelling and screaming for their team … the playoff games were so amazing, seeing thousands of people in blue and white, something I will never ever forget.”

A Love’s Ultimate Thunder Fan contest winner, the Heckler -- er, Chris -- assures us he will be a fixture at games for the 2010-11 season to cheer on the team, particularly his favorite player, James Harden.

“He knows how to rock an awesome beard like me,” Chris said, “and he is an amazing player.”
