OKLAHOMA CITY BUSINESSES ASKED TO THUNDER UP!

Oklahoma City, Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 – The Oklahoma City Thunder is asking Oklahoma City metro-area businesses to Thunder UP in preparation for the start of the 2009-10 season. The Thunder is challenging each business to decorate their office in a Thunder theme to help spread the excitement of the season opener, a week from Wednesday night. Businesses can use pocket schedules, broadcast calendars, window dressings or any type of Thunder decorations they want to help Thunder UP! Several Thunder items are available at the ThunderShop, located on the atrium level of Leadership Square in downtown Oklahoma City.

Awards will be provided for the top three businesses who show their Thunder pride.

FIRST PRIZE: The use of a suite at a Thunder game with 100 tickets for employees and two Courtside seats.

SECOND PRIZE: The use of a suite at a Thunder game with 50 tickets for employees and a Thunder merchandise package.

THIRD PRIZE: 25 tickets for employees and a Rumble or Thunder Girls appearance at their business.

To enter, businesses are asked to log on to the team’s website at thunder.nba.com. Each business will register, submit a paragraph on why they should be selected and submit photos. The top five finalists will be chosen and put on the website. A special Thunder judging team will visit the five finalists on Oct. 28 to select the top three winners.

  • Great seats are still available for the Season Opener on Wednesday, Oct. 28 vs. the Sacramento Kings. Seats are available in all price levels, starting as low as $10 per ticket. Fans are asked to call 405.208.HOOP or log on to the team’s website at thunder.nba.com for more ticket information.

  • Coca-Cola and Homeland Stores have teamed up to make the Season Opener memorable for 25 sets of fans with a random drawing that includes four tickets to the Season Opener, four Thunder jerseys, four hot dogs and four Coca-Cola products. Fans are asked to visit any of the 25 Homeland Stores in Oklahoma City to register to win. Three Grand Prize Winners will be selected from the group of 25, and those three winners will receive an autographed Thunder jersey, an autographed basketball and one pair of autographed shoes. The register-to-win promotion ends this Saturday.

  • The Thunder hosts the San Antonio Spurs tonight at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. It is the return of Thunder forward Kevin Durant to Austin, and Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell has proclaimed today Kevin Durant Day in Austin. The game will be televised tonight beginning at 7:30 p.m. on KSBI Thunder TV (COX OKC Ch. 15).
