SEATTLE - The Seattle SuperSonics today signed assistant coach Jack Sikma to a contract extension and promoted video coordinator/special assignments coach Walt Rock to assistant coach/director of video scouting, Sonics General Manager Rick Sund announced.

"Jack has been a tremendous asset to our coaching staff over the last two years," said Sund. "I’m extremely pleased he’s back with us and I know he’ll be a great benefit to our head coach Bob Weiss and the rest of the organization."

Sikma, 49, was selected by the Sonics with the eighth pick overall in the 1977 NBA Draft. As a player, he is among the Sonics’ top 10 in 14 statistical categories including rebounds (first, 7,729) points (third, 12,034) and blocked shots (second, 705). Sikma retired after the 1990-91 NBA season and his jersey was hoisted to the rafters of the former Seattle Center during a halftime ceremony of the Sonics vs. Pistons game on Nov. 21, 1992. He originally joined the Sonics coaching staff in 2003 as a special assignments coach and was promoted to assistant coach last season.
