Home for the Holidays: Thunder Christmas Night

OKLAHOMA CITY, Friday, Dec. 23 – No matter what the weather forecast says, there’s going to be snow outside the Chesapeake Energy Arena on Christmas night as the Oklahoma City Thunder takes on the Orlando Magic. The Thunder will start its regular season on Sunday, Dec. 25; the Opening Night game will tip off at 7 p.m. It is one of five games on the NBA's opening day schedule.

GAME DAY

Outside the arena, Reno Ave. will be transformed into a winter wonderland display, complete with falling snow, lit trees and park benches. While on the way inside, fans are welcome to visit Santa and the Thunder Girls and have fun with the Storm Chasers, presented by adidas, and Thunder Drummers. They can stroll through the festive display as Thunder entertainers hand out candy canes and fuel holiday spirit beginning at 5 p.m. Doors to the arena open at 5:30 p.m.

The Thunder Shop at the arena will open to ticket holders with the arena doors on Sunday; fans will find a wide range of new Thunder items in stock.

TICKET AVAILABILITY

For fans interested in tickets to Sunday’s game, the Thunder will again offer 200 tickets on game day at the Thunder Rewards Zone. Beginning at 4 p.m. outside the Chesapeake Arena box office, fans can enter the raffle to win or purchase pairs of tickets. The first 75 fans in line can enjoy the comfort of Thunder-branded chairs, a sample from Buffalo Wild Wings on Northwest Expressway and a guaranteed opportunity to win or purchase tickets. At 6 p.m., 25 lucky participants will win a pair of Love’s Loud City tickets and 75 others will win the chance to purchase one of the remaining pairs. All Rewards Zone tickets are located in Love’s Loud City. The Thunder Rewards Zone is presented by Buffalo Wild Wings on Northwest Expressway.

CHESAPEAKE ENERGY ARENA RENOVATIONS

Thunder fans visiting the arena for the first time since last season will enjoy new improvements and dramatic enhancements. Renovations include new digital displays, expanded food and beverage options, new lighting and terrazzo tile on the Main Concourse and a new Victory Club located on the Cox Club Level. The new Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 Club has been transformed into an upscale bar and club atmosphere that will remain open for one hour after the end of the game. WHERE TO WATCH AND LISTEN

Sunday’s Opening Night game will be broadcast regionally on Fox Sports Oklahoma (Cox OKC 37/722 HD) or statewide with Matt Pinto on the Thunder Radio Network, led by WWLS-The Sports Animal (98.1 FM, 640 AM in Oklahoma City). Calling Sunday’s game on FSO will be Thunder broadcasters Brian Davis and Grant Long, along with sideline reporter Kelly Crull.
