Thunder to Host Food Drive on Wednesday

Team will partner with the Governor’s ‘Feeding Oklahoma’ drive to benefit Regional Food Bank, kicking off annual Holiday Assist initiative

Oklahoma City, Tuesday, Nov. 5 – The Thunder will take part in the Governor’s “Feeding Oklahoma Food Drive,” and fans attending the Thunder vs. Dallas Mavericks game on Wednesday, Nov. 6 are encouraged to drop off donations before the game.

The donation drive will kick off the team’s annual Holiday Assist initiative, presented by Cox Communications.

Fans may deliver donations of non-perishable food items, such as canned goods, peanut butter and pasta, before the game to either of two tents on Reno Ave., stationed near the northwest and northeast entrances of Chesapeake Energy Arena. Volunteers will begin collecting items at 6:30 p.m., during the Thunder Alley pregame festivities.

Any fan who donates to the drive can enter a raffle to win Thunder prizes, including team-signed balls and player-autographed shoes. The donation drive will conclude when the game tips off at 8:30 p.m.

“We are proud to partner with the Governor’s food drive and with the Regional Food Bank once again to benefit our fellow Oklahomans, especially as we approach the holiday season,” said Dan Mahoney, vice president of Community Relations for the Thunder.

“But we are particularly proud to partner with our fans, who share our commitment to helping our neighbors and giving back to this community we call home.”

The Governor’s “Feeding Oklahoma” drive is a statewide push to fight food insecurity by collecting donations to benefit the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. Donations collected at Wednesday’s game will help the Regional Food Bank serve some of the 675,000 Oklahomans who are at risk of going hungry every day.
