Auction to Benefit Home Country of Serge Ibaka After Tragedy

OKLAHOMA CITY, Wednesday, March 14 – During Friday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs, Thunder fans will have the opportunity to help the people of Brazzaville in the Republic of Congo, the hometown of Serge Ibaka. The Thunder will hold a special in-game raffle and auction to benefit the people of Brazzaville following explosions and fires last week that killed more than 200 people and injured over 1,300. The tragedy occurred when a munitions depot exploded on March 4. The blasts leveled nearby residential areas and left hundreds of men, women and children homeless.

The featured item in Friday’s auction will be Ibaka’s autographed game-worn jersey and an opportunity to meet him after the game. Other signed Thunder memorabilia will also be up for auction. Fans can purchase a $5 raffle ticket for the chance to win a team-autographed Thunder basketball. Both the auction and the raffle will be outside Section 120 on the main concourse. A portion of Friday’s proceeds will go towards UNICEF.
