Thunder to Hold Blue & White Scrimmage at Yukon High on Oct. 1

OKLAHOMA CITY, Sept. 15, 2010 -- Thunder fans will have their first opportunity to see their 2010-11 Thunder team in action on Friday, Oct. 1, as the team takes Training Camp to Yukon for an open scrimmage at Yukon High School.

The Blue and White scrimmage is free and open to the public. Doors at the Yukon High School Gym open at 5 p.m., with the scrimmage scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. The event concludes at 6:45 p.m., in time for the 7:30 p.m. kickoff of the 6A football matchup between Yukon and Norman North High.

The entire team will take part in the scrimmage, the third annual event in which the Thunder has held an open practice for the community. Also on hand for the festivities will be the Thunder Girls and Rumble the Bison.

Following the scrimmage, Thunder players will participate at the football game’s opening coin toss.

Thunder Head Coach Scott Brooks said he is looking forward to the event.

“The Blue/White scrimmage is a great opportunity for our team to get out in the community and see the fans that support us throughout the season,” he said. “We are excited to go out to Yukon and support athletes from Yukon and Norman North. It should be a great night for everyone involved.”

Yukon Schools Athletics Director David Fisher said it promises to be an exciting evening.

"The Yukon School District is so excited and honored to have the opportunity to host the Oklahoma City Thunder in our fine city,” he said. “We think having the Thunder in town on Friday, Oct. 1st, before our big football game is just a super combination. People can come out and watch the Thunder, and then go next door and watch the Millers. What a great night for sports fans in Yukon and the surrounding area."
