Radmanovic Ready to Roll
Sonics sign first-round pick

Radmanovic
SEATTLE, Sept. 6 -- The Seattle SuperSonics on Thursday signed first-round draft pick Vladimir Radmanovic to a contract, Sonics General Manager Rick Sund announced. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Radmanovic, 20, was the 12th overall selection in NBA Draft 2001. The 6-10 forward played the past three-and-a-half seasons for Crvena Zvezda (Red Star) of Belgrade, Yugoslavia, before transferring to FMP Zeleznik of Yugoslavia in January 2001.

"We're extremely pleased with Vladimir's play in workouts and in the 2001 summer league," said Sund. "He has a great ability to shoot the ball and, because of his experience in Europe, several aspects of his game mirror those of a veteran NBA player."

Radmanovic played on the Sonics summer league team in Los Angeles and Boston this July. He averaged 17.2 ppg, 4.5 rpg and 3.2 apg in Los Angeles and 16.3 ppg, 4.5 rpg and 2.2 apg in Boston.

"We're excited to have Vladimir on our team," Sonics Head Coach Nate McMillan said. "His youth and perimeter skills will definitely help us this season and in the future. Vladimir has tremendous potential and is already a scorer with the versatility to play four positions."
