Thunder Plans Second Annual Military Night

Oklahoma City, Monday, January 04, 2010 – The Oklahoma City Thunder will salute servicemembers and their families from all branches of the military during a special Military Appreciation Night in the Ford Center on Monday, Jan. 11 against the New York Knicks.

The Thunder is asking all of its Season Ticket Members to donate their seats to servicemembers for the Jan. 11 game. Season Ticket Members who would like to donate tickets are asked to contact their Thunder account manager or email Last year, Season Ticket Members donated more than 650 seats and Thunder officials are hoping that number increases for Monday’s game.

Discounted tickets are also being offered to military personnel in all seating locations, starting as low as $5. In addition, the general public is welcome to purchase seats at a discounted price for members of the military. Fans wishing to donate or purchase tickets can email or call 405.208.HOOP.

During halftime the United States Army will conduct a soldier swearing-in ceremony for its newest members from Oklahoma. A Military Covenant presentation is also planned for halftime, which will include participation from Mayor Mick Cornett and other civic, business and military leaders. Fans wishing to show their support for men and women of the military will be invited to sign the document on the concourse of the Ford Center.

Military vehicles, including an air defender, rocket launcher, canon and Stryker tank will be displayed outside the Ford Center on Reno Ave. for the public to view and tour.
