The Seattle SuperSonics today signed six free agents and invited them to their 2005 training camp, which begins Monday. SUPERSONICS.COM takes a look at the six players vying to become Sonics.

16 | Noel Felix

Position: Forward
Height: 6-9
Weight: 225
College: Fresno State '03
Born: October 4, 1981

By accepting the Sonics offer to attend training camp this fall, Felix completes his tour of last year's Western Conference division champions; he spent 2003 with the Phoenix Suns and 2004 with the San Antonio Spurs. After splitting 2003-04 between China and the CBA, Felix spent time with three teams in 2004-05, playing in Italy, the Philippines and the CBA. He was named to the CBA All-Defensive Team after averaging 15.7 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks for the Yakima Sun Kings. Felix played for the Sonics summer-league squad in the Rocky Mountain Revue this July, averaging 8.2 points and 4.0 rebounds. Afterwards, he played for the USA Basketball World Championships qualifying team. He's a good athlete who has consistently excelled at the defensive end of the court.

13 | Roger Powell

Position: Small Forward
Height: 6-6
Weight: 235
College: Illinois '05
Born: January 15, 1983

Roger Powell, Jr. comes to the Sonics from the University of Illinois, where he helped the Illini win their first 29 games of the 2004-05 season and advance to the National Championship Game. Powell started all 39 games for Illinois, ranking fourth on the team in scoring at 12.0 ppg and second in rebounding at 5.7 rpg. Undersized at 6-6, Powell played power forward for Illinois, but his shooting range - he connected on 20 3s as a senior - should help him make the transition to the perimeter as a professional. Powell is an intelligent, efficient player who shot 57.2% from the field during his college career. By the way, it's Reverend Powell to you - Powell is a licensed Pentecostal minister.

25 | Alex Scales

Position: Guard
Height: 6-2
Weight: 175
College: Oregon '00
Born: July 3, 1978

The most experienced of the Sonics training camp invitees, Scales has played professionally all over the globe since finishing his career at Oregon five years ago, but is still looking to catch on in the NBA after attending training camps with the Houston Rockets and New Jersey Nets the last two years. Scales has played in Italy, Korea and China, where he helped replace Yao Ming on the Shanghai Sharks. Also on Scales' resume is a stint playing for new Sonics assistant Ralph Lewis in the NBDL. Scales led the Sonics summer-league squad with 12.6 points per game, shooting 50% from the field. He then shined for the U.S. qualifying team, averaging 10.3 points per game. Scales is an outstanding shooter, but at 6-2, he has to demonstrate the ability to play the point to stick in the NBA.

3 | Tre Simmons

Position: Guard/Forward
Height: 6-5
Weight: 200
College: Washington '05
Born: July 24, 1982

Simmons is no stranger to Seattle basketball fans after two outstanding seasons at the University of Washington. An All-Pac-10 selection as a senior, Simmons averaged 16.0 points per game to rank second on the Huskies as they won the Pac-10 Tournament and earned a number-one seed in the NCAA Tournament. A dangerous outside shooter, Simmons set the UW single-season record with 80 3-pointers, making them at a 41.7% clip as a senior. A Seattle native who played for Garfield High School, Simmons is looking to join a handful of local players to play for the Sonics and three UW alums - Charles Dudley, Lars Hansen and Detlef Schrempf.

2 | Omar Thomas

Position: Guard/Forward
Height: 6-5
Weight: 205
College: UTEP '05
Born: February 5, 1982

Like Sonics guard Ronald "Flip" Murray, Thomas is a product of Strawberry Mansion High School in North Philadelphia. Thomas started his college career at Panola Junior College and Texas, where he put up video-game numbers - 34.3 points and 19.1 rebounds per game as a freshman, 36.1 and 17.1 as a sophomore - and became the all-time leading scorer in the history of JC basketball. Thomas moved on to UTEP, where he thrived in the paint despite being just 6-5. Thomas averaged 20.5 points and 6.7 rebounds as a senior, leading the Miners to the WAC Tournament Championship and a spot in the NCAA Tournament (where he scored 24 points in a loss to Utah and top NBA pick Andrew Bogut). Thomas averaged an even seven free throws per game as a senior and is described as willing his way to the basket.

26 | Ezra Williams

Position: Shooting Guard
Height: 6-4
Weight: 190
College: Georgia '03
Born: November 2, 1980

Williams teamed with Sonics forward Damien Wilkins at Georgia, where he was a strong scorer. Williams averaged better than 16 points per game as both a junior and a senior and was named Second Team All-SEC both seasons. Williams is physical for a guard, and he's also a fine outside shooter who canned 41.4% of his 3s as a senior and ranks second in Georgia history in 3s made and attempted. Williams played 11 games in 2003-04 with the NBDL's Columbus Riverdragons, averaging 11.4 points, before a foot injury ended his season. Williams spent 2004-05 with the Great Lakes Storm of the CBA, averaging a team-leading 20.9 points per game (second in the CBA) to go along with 5.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals. Williams has played for the Sonics summer-league squad each of the last two years, earning him an invitation to training camp.
