Game at a Glance - Sonics 117, New York 110
RECAP

117

110
The Seattle SuperSonics knocked down their shots Wednesday at Madison Square Garden. As a result, they knocked off the New York Knicks 117-110, earning their first win on a five-game road trip. The Sonics shot a season-high 58.0% from the field and needed almost all of those shots because the Knicks were nearly as hot in the first quarter and pounded the glass to stay close in the second half. After New York pulled within 103-101 with 3:34 left, the Sonics executed and converted on their next five possessions. By the time the Knicks got a stop, there were just 39 seconds left on the clock and Sonics free throws kept a comeback attempt at bay.

Playing in the arena he called home for seven seasons, veteran Sonics center Kurt Thomas made several huge plays down the stretch, including a three-point play off an offensive rebound and a charge drawn in the final minute. Kevin Durant powered the Sonics offense down the stretch and scored 30 points on 10-of-20 shooting. He also handed out a pair of assists during the closing Sonics run. Fellow rookie Jeff Green provided energy off the bench and scored 17 points, making him one of four Sonics reserves in double-figures.
