Oklahoma City, April 12, 2010 - Thunder fans across the state are invited to show their support for the team at Thunder FanFest, a communitywide event to be held Friday, April 16, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. in Oklahoma City’s Bricktown. Presented by the Thunder’s Founding Partners, FanFest provides an opportunity for fans of all ages to demonstrate support for the team upon the end of the regular season and the eve of the NBA Playoffs. The Founding Partners of the Oklahoma City Thunder are Chesapeake Energy, Devon Energy, MidFirst Bank, The Oklahoman and SandRidge Energy.
FanFest will also mark the first time that Thunder fans can buy from a full array of new Thunder Playoff merchandise and apparel such as T-shirts, hats, pennants, pins, commemorative basketballs and more.
To be held in the parking lot on the southwest corner of Oklahoma and Sheridan Avenues, the event will celebrate the hard work, dedication and commitment of the team as it prepares to take its next steps. The team itself will be preparing for the Playoffs, and will be unable to attend.
“The Thunder’s success this season has been the result of commitment, resiliency, teamwork and passion for the game – traits also embodied by the fans who have been, and continue to be, a vital part of the Thunder family,” said Thunder senior vice president Brian Byrnes. “Thunder FanFest is a fun and exciting way to engage with other Thunder fans and share in the experience together.”
Featured entertainment is Universal Republic recording artist and Oklahoma City native Graham Colton, as well as recording artist Baby Bash, whose hits have included collaborations with T-Pain and Akon.
Also on-hand for the festivities are Rumble the Bison, the Thunder Girls (presented by FireLake Grand Casino) and the COX Drummers. A brief program at 6 p.m. will be emceed by Mike Steely of WWLS-Radio “The Sports Animal.” Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett will also participate. Attractions include face-painting, games, balloon artists, Thunder temporary tattoos and other family-friendly activities.
Complimentary Homeland gift bags and Coke products will be available, as will $1 Budweiser beers. Fans will also be given Thunder rally towels to help show their support for the team.
In addition, fans will have a chance to win playoff tickets by visiting the THUNDERALLY tent.
