THE FRENCH CONNECTION
The Sonics have had much success in the draft recently, with the New York Times rating them the NBA's top team in terms of drafting. Their attempt to continue that trend saw them select a pair of Frenchmen on June 28. With the 25th pick, the Sonics took 7-0 center Johan Petro from Pau Orthez. Their 48th pick was used on swingman Mickael Gelebale, who plays for Spanish club Real Madrid. The Sonics traded the rights to 55th pick Lawrence Roberts to Memphis for future second-round picks in 2006 and 2007. To look back on the 2005 Draft as it unfolded, check out the NBA Draft Live.
