Thunder Unveils Alternate Uniform

On Friday night, when the Thunder takes the floor at Chesapeake Energy Arena against the Detroit Pistons, fans will be greeted to a creative, different look – the team’s brand new alternate uniforms.

The Thunder’s strong, distinct logo and color scheme have always been an integral aspect of Oklahomans’ connection to the team, and now, Thunder fans will have an exciting, powerful complementary uniform to enjoy.

On Thursday the Thunder unveiled its alternate uniform that combines a classic navy and white color scheme with modern, innovative vertical lettering. The two-color scheme creates a bold and clean look, while the unique vertical presentation of the word “THUNDER” illustrates the rising nature of the organization and the Oklahoma City community. In many ways the new uniform will be familiar to Thunder fans, particularly since the font used for numbers and letters is consistent with those on the current home and away uniforms.

The “Oklahoma City” script on the shorts is traditional, yet the placement a fresh application. Meanwhile, the vertically positioned “OKC” letters on the shorts embraces the loyal, organic support of Thunder fans who chant those letters throughout home games. Above all, the timeless design and firm, precise styling reflect the proud, industrious, hard-working personality of the community that has supported the Thunder night-in and night-out ever since 2008. Fans who attend Friday night’s contest will be the first to witness the new look first-hand, but there will be other opportunities this season as well.

“Our hope is that we created a uniform that our players and fans can connect with and that represents the blue collar, industrious nature of the people in Oklahoma ,” General Manager Sam Presti said.

The team is permitted by the NBA to wear the alternate jersey twice at home this season, with the other use scheduled for the New Year’s Eve game against the Phoenix Suns at Chesapeake Energy Arena. The Thunder has also decided to wear the new uniform on the road ten times this season, starting on December 4th against the Brooklyn Nets and on December 20th at Minnesota. The alternate uniforms will also be utilized against the Washington Wizardson January 7th, the Dallas Mavericks on January 18th, Los Angeles Lakers on January 27th, the Utah Jazz on February 12th, the Denver Nuggets on March 1st, the San Antonio Spurs on March 11th, the Indiana Pacers on April 5th and the Golden State Warriors on April 11th.
