Blue Alliance Chapter of the Month - Josh Newby

How did you get started as a Blue Alliance Captain? I saw that the Thunder was looking for people to represent their hometowns as Blue Alliance Captains, so I jumped on the idea. I am very proud of both the Thunder and my town of Ada. There is no way that I could pass up something that involves both of them. What got you hooked on the Thunder?

I think I was hooked even before the first game. I like the NBA a lot, but I love having an NBA team that represents our city and our state. We truly have something to be proud of here. I have been to other arenas, and nothing compares to the electricity the OKC crowd has. It's so much fun. Anyone that has been to at least one game understands how easy it is to be hooked. How many members do you have in your Blue Alliance Chapter?

215.What’s been your favorite moment as a Blue Alliance Captain?

My favorite moment is really more like “moments.” I have really enjoyed meeting fellow Thunder fans from Ada. No matter if it’s at a watch party, a game or over the Internet, it’s always fun to meet other people who live where I live and love the Thunder as much as I do.What’s your top goal for the next year in the Blue Alliance? My goal for the Blue Alliance is two things. One is, of course, to spread Thunder Basketball. It’s not that I just want to gain as many fans as possible; it’s also that this thing is so great that I feel like I need to tell as many people about it as possible so no one misses out. The other goal is to let the Thunder know that Ada loves the Thunder. [Editor’s note: Message received, Josh! We love Ada right back. Thanks!] How many pieces of Thunder gear do you own?

I guess I am a little different when it comes to that answer. I have the usual hats, shirts and anything else with the logo on it Then, there’s the stuff I have that I suppose most people above the age of eight do not have: custom Thunder shoes, blue super-suits and capes, complete with Thunder logos. (Yes, I am married, by the way. She must love me a lot, I guess.)Want to learn more about becoming a Blue Alliance member? Click here.
