Sonics Acquire Campbell From Hornets

The Seattle SuperSonics today acquired center Elden Campbell from the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for guard Kenny Anderson, Sonics General Manager Rick Sund announced.

Campbell, a 13-year veteran, averaged 7.2 points and 3.5 rebounds in 41 games with the Hornets this season.

Originally selected by the L.A. Lakers in the first round (27th pick overall) of the 1990 NBA Draft, Campbell has career averages of 11.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.66 blocks in 924 career games. The Hornets acquired him from the Lakers along with Eddie Jones in exchange for Glen Rice, J.R. Reid and B.J. Armstrong on March 10, 1999.

Anderson, in his 12th season, averaged 6.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 38 games with the Sonics this season. He was placed on the injured list on Feb. 14 with lower back muscle spasms and had missed the previous three games.
