Brent Barry shares his gameday routine with SUPERSONICS.COM:
8:00 - I wake up to game day - a day when I’m very serious about maintaining my set routine. I do things at specific times and there are things I remind myself to avoid on game days. For instance, I never parachute on game days. Skydiving is not a good idea. I don’t run a 10K on a game day and I never start a Michener book.
8:05 - It’s breakfast time with my wife and son.
9:15 - I arrive at KeyArena to prepare for shootaround.
10:00 - Shootaround time.
11:30 - I usually have lunch at home on game days. Sometimes I’ll eat out.
3:00 - I take a nap from 3 to about 4:45.
5:00 - After a snack that includes a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, an apple and a glass of water, I depart for KeyArena. Staying within my routine is the key to my mental preparation for the game. I’ve also made sure I’ve eaten right and have had my rest. All those things add up to being prepared.
7:00 - GAME TIME.
10:00 - After the game, I’ll have a nice dinner at a local restaurant.
11:30 - I arrive at home.
