Australian Full of Thunder Pride

You’re liable to run into the Thunder faithful anywhere in this great big world, even in the land of kangaroos, koalas and Russell Crowe. Thunder devotee Glenn Moore is among the contingent of Aussies who bleeds Thunder blue.

Residing in Perth, Australia’s fourth-largest city, Glenn was already an NBA fan when he became fascinated by Thunder General Manager Sam Presti.

“I was excited that Sam Presti was so young and found it really inspiring,” said Glenn, 28. “After Sam took over and started focusing on signing and drafting character guys, I found it that much more fun and exciting to follow the team. To get a polite, hardworking superstar like Kevin Durant cemented for me that this era of basketball was going to be different.”

Fueled by his admiration for Presti, Glenn even landed a job as a sales representative for the Perth Wildcats of Australia’s National Basketball League.

The job was temporary, but not Glenn’s affection for the Thunder. The information-technology specialist wears a Thunder wristband at all times, even at work. He has successfully taught his kids, ages 3 and 5, to raise their fists and shout “Thunder pride!” after any particularly hard-fought basketball. He has even gotten his wife, who is not a hoops fan, to watch some of the games with him.

Glenn concedes it isn’t always easy to follow a team in a city with a 12-hour time difference, but the Internet has been a tremendous help.

“For a 10 pm Eastern Time game, it’s 10 am here, so I have one of my PC screens at work on the Thunder game and the other on my work,” he said.. “The early games are a bit of a challenge. Trying to get up at 1 a.m. or 3 a.m. is tough, but worth it.”

Glenn is among the worldwide Thunder aficionados who can be found on THUNDERALLY, an online, interactive community devoted to Thunder fans.
