Job Posting - Director, Business Development
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for assisting the department VP in business planning, budgeting and goal setting for the department
• Responsible for maximizing the potential sales volume of all segments of sellable team assets
• Develops, activates and increases revenues from corporate partnerships utilizing team advertising assets including but
not limited to television, radio, arena signage, Web, hospitality, retail promotions, logo rights, team promotions and
publications
• Plans, organizes, directs and controls the execution of team programs to achieve sales and revenue targets
• Provides leadership for the day-to-day operations of the sales department, while maintaining focus on the Club’s
strategic goals
• Recognizes opportunities and closes fully integrated corporate partnership agreements with local, regional and national
companies
• Effectively executes and manages every element of the sales process on an individual level and builds a top notch
sales team
• Responsible for attracting, retaining, training and motivating a diverse sales team
• Establishes performance goals for all department sales staff and monitors performance on a continual basis
• Reviews all proposals and improves the way in which corporate partners are approached and sold
• Produces sponsorship sales materials as needed
• Is expected to work all home Thunder games
• Conducts weekly department sales meetings and one-on-one sales executive meetings as needed
• Responsible for conducting annual reviews of direct reports
• Maintains good attendance and punctuality
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Four-year college degree is preferred or minimum of five years of agency/media/partnership sales experience
• Must be knowledgeable in regards to practices and principles related to corporate sponsorship, media and business
development sales activities
• An extensive background in client activation and the business of professional sports is preferred
• Ability to develop successful, mutually-beneficial working relationships with potential corporate clients
• Must work closely with account managers to create a team approach that properly manages client interests and fulfills
overall partnership objectives
• Must be an aggressive, self-motivated team player that has the ability to focus on both departmental and individual
growth
• Sound decision making ability
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Exceptional work ethic, strong desire to succeed and maturity
• High level of professionalism and integrity
• Creativity and attention to detail
