Director's Corner - Feb. 4, 2003
As mentioned in last month’s edition, the Dance Team performed a special routine on roller-skates at the Clippers game on January 10. Our green and gold, custom-made 4-wheelers are courtesy of Skechers USA. I was back on the court for the first time in eight months to perform this routine along with the rest of the Dance Team. It was a lot of fun and no one fell! If you missed it, we will be performing the skating routine again at the games on February 11 and February 24…but his time with a 70’s twist!
Kelly, Emily, Stephanie, Allison and Jessica A. were at Red Robin in Federal Way signing autographs for the Sonics viewing party against Utah on the 16th.
Jessica P. and Lea were on 92.5 KLSY’s morning show promoting the search for the first “Desmond Duck”, which was given away to the first 10,000 fans at the Memphis game on the 17th.
Several of the dancers performed at a Martin Luther King Jr. celebration at Garfield Teen Center in Seattle on the 20th. Performing were Kelly, Stephanie, Lisa, Kendall, Emily, Jessica A., and Jessica P.
There were no home games during the week of January 20-26, but we were still busy rehearsing and perfecting routines….especially the skating routine!
We had a Dance Team sleep over at my house on the 24th. Needless to say, “sleep” did not happen. We were busy munching on all sorts of goodies, watching dance videos, and laughing until our sides hurt. We ate breakfast the next morning and hung out a little while longer. It was such a fun time. I absolutely love how close this team has become over the past six months!
On the 29th, Jessica P., Kendall, LaShaunna, Jessica A., Emily, Lindsay, and Kelly signed autographs and performed at the annual All-Star game at McChord Air Force Base. The fans down there were very excited to see them, and also got really loud when the dancers started throwing out t-shirts at the timeouts.
We all eagerly anticipated the January 30th game, when the new Dance Team poster was given away to the first 10,000 fans. It’s an awesome poster. Many fans were lucky enough to receive the entire team’s autograph at halftime.
Thanks for keeping up with us. Check back soon to see what’s going on in February.
