Devon Community Hero - Military Apprecation


Military Heroes: February, 2011

As part of our Military Appreciation Night activities, we were proud to recognize a group of military heroes who have gone above and beyond the call of duty, representing our nation.

Our first Devon Military hero represents the United States Marine Corps. He's received the Combat Action Ribbon for combat actions in Irag and the "Navy and Marine Achievement Medal" in Afghanistan... Sergeant Feliciano Escobar.

From the United States Air Force, he received the Air Force Achievement Medal for outstanding achievement while deploying in Iraq... Staff Sergeant William Blakeney.

A member of the Air Force Reserves, He's the 2010 "Airman of the Year" for the 507th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. He also received the Air Force Commendation Medal for his work in the Middle East... Staff Sergeant Shawn Shaw.

From the United States Navy, her most recent deployment was to the Multi-National Force in Baghdad. For her meritorious service, the was awarded the Joint Force Commendation Medal... Petty Officer Second Class Melanie Haynes.

From the Oklahoma National Guard, our next honoree was recognizef nationally as the U.S. Army National Guard Soldier of the Year for 2010... Sergeant Keith Isbell.

From the U.S. Army at Ft. Sill, our next hero received numberous awards of valor for his courageous deployment in Afghanistan. He was involved in an 11-and-a-half-hour firefight, the longest ever in a combat theatre... Army Specialist Shawn Roberts.
