Devon Community Hero - BALTO
BALTO: January 28th, 2009
January's Thunder Community Hero Award, presented by Devon Energy, was given to the student group BALTO (Bringing a Light to Others) at Edmond North High School. Formed in 1994, the BALTO group raises funds each year for nonprofit community service agencies in the Oklahoma.
In 2008, the BALTO students held dance-a-thons, garage sales and other events, which raised more than $187,000 to benefit the Oklahoma chapter of the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
