Devon Community Hero - Five Oklahoma veterans

Five Oklahoma veterans
January 27, 2014

For our January presentation of the Devon Community Hero, presented by the Thunder, we paid tribute to all who serve or have served our nation. We were proud to recognize five Oklahoma veterans as our Devon Energy Community Heroes. They were not only being honored for their own service, but they represented ALL who served with them during these periods, over the past 70 years.

Specialist James Kimball, a member of the Oklahoma National Guard, who was deployed in Afghanistan from 2011-2012. He represents all who are currently serving.

Representing all who served in Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield, retired Specialist Pete Johnson, who served in the United States Army from 1989-93.

Representing those who served in Vietnam, retired Captain Don Hardon, a member of the United States Air Force from 1967-1987.

Retired Army Corporal Richard Dake, who served from 1951 to 1952 and represents all who served in the Korean War.

And we also honored a veteran from World War II, Army Sergeant Harley Richardson.
