Tool Drummer Reps The Thunder Brand
The gentleman wearing a Kevin Durant jersey in the photo below is Danny Carey, the longtime drummer for the Grammy Award-winning progressive metal band Tool.
Tool put on an earsplitting, heart-pounding concert at the Ford Center last night highlighted with the most tantalizing laser light show I’ve ever seen.
After a 90-minute set in which the band covered all their classic songs, things only got better at the end.
After a two-song encore, Carey stepped out from his elaborate drum set and strutted across the stage while proudly displaying the full Thunder uniform – road shorts and a jersey – he rocked the house in. Carey, 49, was the last band member to leave the stage, doing so as he puffed out his chest and pointed to his Kevin Durant Thunder jersey with a smile across his face.
The Ford Center crowd ate it up. And as the sold-out crowd made its way through the concourse, we overheard several fans exclaim just how cool it was to see Carey in a Thunder uniform.
The back story: Carey, who grew up in Paola, Kans., and is a noted sports fan, asked a Ford Center event coordinator hours before Wednesday’s show if he could get a full Kevin Durant Thunder uniform to wear for the night. After a few phone calls were made, Todd Albright, Senior Manager, Event Presentation, arrived with the goods.
And as you can tell by the photo, Carey was very appreciative.
Pretty cool to have an internationally acclaimed band represent the Thunder brand.
