As vice chairman, Carl Vogel focuses on EchoStar Communication Corporation's financial and strategic initiatives. Prior to becoming vice chairman at EchoStar, Vogel served four years as the president and chief executive officer of Charter Communications Inc., a Fortune 500 company that provides cable television and broadband services to approximately six million customers. Between 1997 and 2001, Vogel held various senior executive positions in companies affiliated with Liberty Media Corporation. He was also chairman and chief executive officer of Primestar and chief executive officer of Star Choice.

This is Vogel's second stint with EchoStar. He was an executive officer for EchoStar from 1994 to 1997 and president of DISH Network. He was a key member of the executive team that created and launched DISH Network in 1996.

Vogel earned his bachelor's degree from St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wis., with an emphasis on finance and accounting.
