In his capacity as president of Turner Entertainment Group, Mark Lazarus oversees TBS, Turner Network Television (TNT), Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and Turner South; the Turner animation unit, which includes Cartoon Network, Boomerang and cartoonnetwork.com; Turner Sports; and Turner Entertainment Sales and Marketing.

Prior to being named Turner Entertainment Group president in March 2003, Lazarus served as president of Turner Entertainment Sales and Marketing and as president of Turner Sports. His responsibilities as president of Sales and Marketing included all advertising sales for TBS, WTBS, TNT, Cartoon Network and Turner South.

As president of Turner Sports, Lazarus oversaw all sports acquisitions, programming and production for the networks and was the only television sports executive with oversight of an integrated sales, marketing, programming and production division. He led Turner Broadcasting’s acquisition of the cable rights to the NBA, NASCAR, Wimbledon and the British Open, as well as the Internet rights to NASCAR.com and PGA.com.

He joined Turner Broadcasting Sales in 1990 as an account executive in sports and held titles of increasing responsibility with Turner Sports. Earlier, he was a network buyer and planner for Backer, Spielvogel, Bates, Inc., and an account executive for NBC Cable.

Lazarus, a graduate of Vanderbilt University, is a National Trustee of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Sports Business Journal and Sporting News named him one of the most influential executives in sports programming and Ad Age named him as one of its “Media Mavens.”
