John King is CNN’s chief national correspondent and the host of its new Sunday morning interview and public affairs program.

King covered his sixth presidential election in 2008, playing a central role in CNN’s groundbreaking coverage. He visited more than 30 states to report on the candidates and the issues, and he assumed an expanded studio role including segments with the CNN multi-touch “Magic Board.”

Prior to being named chief national correspondent in 2005, King served as CNN’s senior White House correspondent. He joined the network in 1997 after 12 years at The Associated Press, where he was the chief political correspondent. King has reported from more than 50 countries around the world, including the conflict in Iraq and the Southeast Asia tsunami.
