Philip I. Kent is chairman and chief executive officer of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. He oversees Turner’s news, entertainment and animation, young adult & kids media divisions, whose networks and businesses include CNN/U.S., Headline News, CNN International and CNN.com; TBS, TNT, Turner Classic Movies, truTV, Peachtree TV and Turner Sports; and Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Adult Swim. Kent also has corporate oversight of all advertising and distribution, all corporate administrative functions and Turner Studios.
Kent, who assumed his current position in 2003, previously served as president and chief operating officer of CNN News Group. Earlier, he was president of Turner Broadcasting System International and president of Turner Home Entertainment. Prior to joining Turner Broadcasting in 1993, Kent was a packaging agent at Creative Artists Agency (CAA). He began his media career at John Blair & Co., where he helped launch Blair Entertainment, the company’s television syndication division.
Kent serves on the boards of the Ad Council, the National Cable & Telecommunications Association, Central Atlanta Progress, Atlanta’s Woodruff Arts Center and UCLA’s School of Theatre, Film & Television. He was inducted into the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame in 2007. |
