Grant Hill
Forward/Guard, Phoenix Suns

Grant Hill is a seven-time NBA All-Star and one of the league’s most respected players. He inspires teammates and fans alike by continuing to excel on the court despite five ankle surgeries and a number of other injuries that could have ended his career.

After leading Duke to two NCAA titles, Hill entered the league as the third overall pick in the 1994 NBA Draft. He played for Detroit (1994-2000) and Orlando (2000-2007) before signing with Phoenix as a free agent in 2007. Hill shared the 1994-95 NBA Rookie of the Year Award (with Jason Kidd), and went on to earn one All-NBA First Team selection and four All-NBA Second Team selections. He also played on the U.S. team that won the gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics.

In 2007-08, Hill received his second NBA Sportsmanship Award to become the first player to win that honor more than once (he also won the trophy in 2004-05). In addition, Hill received the Dan Majerle Hustle Award, presented annually to the Suns’ player who best personifies Majerle, the former player who “gave maximum effort…in everything he did.”

Off the court, Hill has pledged his time and financial support to a myriad of community investment programs, including a $1 million donation to Duke and a number of scholarships. He served as vice-chairman of the 1999 Special Olympics, and he is one of the leading collectors of African-American art, which he shared with the community as part of a seven-city education tour.
