Executive Vice President, Operations, Global Digital Media > MTV Networks
Denmark West is executive vice president, operations, global digital media for MTV Networks. In this role, he aids the development of key strategies aimed at the future growth of the company, and is a key driver behind MTVNís proactive movement into the multiplatform consumer environment. West is a member of the MTV Networks senior management team.
West has a proven track record of formulating winning strategies, investments and partnerships. He has managed public and private equity investments, acquisitions and divestitures and joint venture creation. Prior to joining MTV Networks, he served as acting chief of staff for the Windows Client Division at Microsoft. In that position, West played central roles in the analysis of investment opportunities and long-range planning.
During his six-year tenure at Microsoft, West held a number of positions in which he helped the company expand and grow into new consumer markets via strategic initiatives, investments and partnerships. These sectors included console gaming, digital media and interactive TV.
Before joining Microsoft, West worked for the investment firm Goldman Sachs in distressed securities trading in the fixed income division. Prior to his time at Goldman, West worked for Brenner Securities and Smith Barney, focusing on entertainment, communications, and technology.
West, who earned his bachelorís degree and his masterís degree in business administration from Harvard, serves on the board of Dress For Success, an organization that seeks to advance low-income womenís economic and social development and encourages self-sufficiency through career development and employment retention. He also serves as a board member of an affiliate of the IMPACT Coalition, a not-for-profit organization that advocates debate as a key to success in building healthier communities and tomorrowís leaders.
