Wolf Blitzer is the anchor of The Situation Room, CNN’s innovative, fast-paced political news program that airs each weekday and in an abbreviated format on Saturday evenings. Blitzer, who also serves as the network’s lead political anchor, spearheaded CNN’s Emmy-nominated coverage of Election Night 2008 and Peabody Award-winning coverage of the presidential primary debates and campaigns. He anchored programming surrounding all of the major political events, including the Democratic and Republican National Conventions, Election Night and the inauguration of President Barack Obama. Blitzer interviewed all of the nominated candidates during the 2008 presidential election cycle, including then-Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain.

For more than three decades, Blitzer has reported on a wide range of major breaking stories around the world. He also led CNN’s Emmy-winning “America Votes 2006” coverage and the network’s 2004 Election Night coverage from NASDAQ. Blitzer served as CNN’s senior White House correspondent from 1992-1999.

Blitzer has interviewed some of America’s most notable figures, including Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford. Blitzer has also interviewed many foreign leaders, including the Dalai Lama, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, and former South African President Nelson Mandela.
