Wolf Blitzer

Wolf Blitzer anchors The Situation Room, CNN’s innovative and fast-paced weekday political news program, and he also serves as the network’s lead political anchor. During the 2008 election cycle, Blitzer moderated several of CNN’s presidential primary debates and anchored primary, convention and election-night coverage.
In addition to covering politics, Blitzer is also known for his in-depth reporting on international news. He has covered the Middle East extensively, and has interviewed many notable figures, including foreign leaders such as Mikhail Gorbachev, Margaret Thatcher, and Nelson Mandela, as well as Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, and Gerald Ford.
Blitzer, who began his career in 1972 working for Reuters in Tel Aviv, spent more than 15 years as the Washington correspondent for The Jerusalem Post. He joined CNN in 1990 as the network’s military-affairs correspondent, and from 1992 until 1999 he served as CNN’s senior White House correspondent. Blitzer served as anchor of Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer for a decade before assuming his current position.
Blitzer has won numerous honors, including Emmy Awards for his and the network’s coverage of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing and the 2006 U.S. elections, and a Golden CableACE for his and the network’s reporting on the Persian Gulf War in 1991. |
