Warriors President/COO Rick Welts, Players Harrison Barnes and Jarrett Jack To Participate in Unveiling

The Golden State Warriors and the Warriors Community Foundation, along with NBA Hall-of-Famer and McClymonds High School graduate Bill Russell will join forces to promote health and wellness to the students of McClymonds High School (2607 Myrtle Street, Oakland, Ca) by unveiling a newly renovated team room, weight room and aerobics room on Tuesday, March 26 from 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., the team announced today. Together, they will also unveil the McClymonds High School Wall of Champions. McClymonds High School, known as the “School of Champions” for its history of athletic excellence and notable basketball alumni, has experienced budget cutbacks that have prevented a proper honor for its athletic history until now.

Warriors President and Chief Operating Officer Rick Welts will introduce Russell to the McClymonds High School boys and girls basketball teams and the 11-time NBA Champion will speak about his time at the school from 1949-1953 and what the Wall of Champions means to him. Russell will then unveil the Wall of Champions, highlighting the excellence of previous McClymonds teams including current boys Head Coach Brandon Brooks’ 2008 California State Championship team. In addition to the Wall of Champions, students and guests will view the newly renovated team room, weight room and aerobics room.

Golden State Warriors players Harrison Barnes and Jarrett Jack will attend the unveiling and participate as honorary coaches in a basketball clinic and shooting contest between the school’s two teams, with the winning team receiving special prizes. Russell will conduct the honorary tip-off of the clinic and interact with the team members during the event.
