The Warriors held their first official practice of the 2012-13 season earlier today, and they apparently had so much fun that they are practicing again tonight. Yes, basketball season is back, and nothing is more indicative of that as the team running through two-a-day practices.

After the first practice, Warriors broadcasters Tim Roye and Jim Barnett discussed the team's guards. Watch that video below, and check out the rest of the playlist for interviews with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Mark Jackson and San Francisco Chronicle Warriors beat writer Rusty Simmons.

Some of the major news of the day …

  • Head Coach Mark Jackson named Andrew Bogut, David Lee and Curry as tri-captains.

  • Curry participated in a little more than half of today’s practice, according to Coach Jackson, who is taking a cautious approach with the team’s star guard coming off ankle surgery last spring.

  • Bogut did not participate in any contact portion of the practice.

  • There’s no question that the squad has a lot of work to do. Popular opinion has the Warriors as a greatly improved team from a year ago, but those are empty words until the team actually gets on the court and shows what it is capable of. Practices like those of today are the first steps to living up to such expectations, and the next test will be this Sunday when the Warriors play their first preseason game against the Lakers in Fresno.
