-- Kings center receives Oscar Robertson Triple-Double Award for his commitment on and off the court --

SACRAMENTO, CA, April 13, 2011 -- In honor of one of the NBA’s all-time greats, the Sacramento Kings continue to honor the legacy of Oscar Robertson, both on and off the court, by awarding the 2010-11 Oscar Robertson Triple-Double Award to Samuel Dalembert.

Every season, the Oscar Robertson Triple-Double Award winner is selected by a panel of local sports media and presented to the deserving Kings player who exemplifies certain characteristics both on and off the court. The triple signifies on the court accomplishments: He is a team leader, embodies the spirit of sportsmanship and plays an outstanding all-around game. The double signifies off the court leadership by showing commitment to community service and family.

The 2010-11 season was the first season for Dalembert in Sacramento and has proven to be productive. His per game averages include (as of April 12) 7.9 ppg, 8.1 rpg and 1.4 bpg. He achieved career highs in points (27 – March 14 vs. Golden State) and field goals made (13 – March 20 vs. Minnesota). Currently in his ninth NBA season, Dalembert has provided the exciting, young Kings with veteran leadership.

In addition to his on-court contributions, Dalembert has made a positive impact off the court through his community service efforts. A native of Haiti, Dalembert has been a leader in international public service among professional athletes. After forming the Samuel Dalembert Foundation, Dalembert has taken great interest in helping his homeland. Through partnerships with UNICEF, the Red Cross, and Feed the Children, the Samuel Dalembert Foundation has supported numerous relief efforts, including bringing clean water and food supplies to Haiti following the aftermath of Hurricane Jeanne and the Haiti earthquake in January 2010. Dalembert has donated more than $125,000 to Haitian relief efforts. The Samuel Dalembert Foundation’s newest initiative is to build and operate The Dalembert Academy, an educational institute and athletic training facility in Haiti.

Earlier this season, Dalembert and teammate Francisco Garcia were among 36 outstanding nominees from throughout professional sports for the 2011 Jefferson Awards for Public Service. In December, Dalembert assisted the California Highway Patrol’s CHiPs for Kids Toy Drive at Cal Expo by collecting toys for children in need during the holidays. Samuel also visited a local elementary school in Sacramento to read with children and promote the importance of reading and literacy through the NBA’s Read to Achieve program.

Dalembert was recognized tonight for his achievement during an on-court halftime presentation. Former Oscar Robertson Triple-Double Award winners include Beno Udrih (2010), Francisco Garcia (2009), Kevin Martin (2008), Corliss Williamson (2007 and 2006), Peja Stojakovic (2005), Vlade Divac (2004) and Chris Webber (2003).
