A national television audience on TNT will see Los Angeles debut the retro home white uniforms of the 1978-79 San Diego Clippers on Thanksgiving night versus New Jersey at 7:00 p.m. PT. The game will be part of a NBA Hardwood Classics doubleheader that begins with the Pacers hosting the Knicks on TNT at 5:00 p.m. PT.
The first uniforms worn by the Clippers in California featured powder blue letters and a series of nautical flags down the side of the uniform. The 1978-79 Clippers, led by World B. Free and Randy Smith, finished their inaugural season in California with a 43-39 record but failed to qualify for the playoffs.
The Clippers will wear the retro uniforms four times during the 2003-04 season. In addition to their debut on Thanksgiving versus New Jersey, the Clippers will also wear the retro uniforms on January 27 versus Chicago, March 21 versus Golden State and on April 14 versus Seattle. All four games will be played at STAPLES Center.
