CHRIS PAUL SELECTED TO WESTERN CONFERENCE ROSTER FOR 2014 NBA ALL-STAR GAME

The NBA announced today that Chris Paul has been selected to the roster for the Western Conference All-Stars for the 2014 NBA All-Star Game. The MVP of the 2013 All-Star Game in Houston, Paul will be making his seventh career All-Star Game appearance. This is the fourth time Paul has been selected by the Western Conference coaches as a reserve.

“I am honored to be selected by the coaches for the All-Star Game,” Paul said. “My first All-Star Game that I played in was in New Orleans, and that city means so much to me. I look forward to representing the Clippers and playing with Blake [Griffin] in New Orleans.”

In his previous six All-Star Games, Paul has averaged 12.4 assists per game, the highest average in All-Star Game history. This season, Paul is averaging 19.6 points, 11.2 assists and 2.44 steals per game in 34 games. He ranks 1st in assists, 2nd in steals and 10th in free throw percentage (.870) in the NBA this season, despite missing 14 games due to a right shoulder injury.

Paul earned the MVP award at the 2013 All-Star Game in Houston after posting 20 points, 15 assists and four steals in a 143-138 win over the Eastern Conference. It marked the first time Paul and a Clippers player have received the honor.

The Clippers franchise has now been represented in the All-Star Game a total of 23 times by 11 different players (Blake Griffin- 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014; Chris Paul - 2012, 2013, 2014; Chris Kaman – 2010; Elton Brand - 2002, 2006; Danny Manning - 1993,1994; Marques Johnson – 1986; Norm Nixon – 1985; World B. Free – 1980; Randy Smith - 1976, 1978; Bob McAdoo - 1974, 1975, 1976; and Bob Kauffman - 1971, 1972, 1973).

Joining Paul as reserves for the Western Conference are Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks, James Harden and Dwight Howard of the Houston Rockets, LaMarcus Aldridge and Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers and Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs.

The 63rd NBA All-Star Game will be exclusively televised on TNT from New Orleans Arena on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014. The All-Star Game, also broadcast live on ESPN Radio, will collectively reach fans in 215 countries and territories in more than 40 languages.
